Momokawa Co., Ltd. is a brewery with over 130 years of history, located in the town of Oirase, Kamikita District, Aomori Prefecture.
The name "Momokawa" originates from the fact that their sake was brewed using the pristine waters of the Momoishi River (now the Oirase River). The brewing water is soft water drawn from rivers sourced from the Hakkoda mountain range and Lake Towada.
Their flagship brand "Nebuta" is named after Aomori's grandest festival, the majestic "Nebuta Matsuri." The cartons and labels feature artwork by the renowned Nebuta artist Hiroo Takenami. Momokawa's three main brands are known as: the rich "Momokawa," the crisp "Nebuta," and the flavorful "Sugidama."
The "Nebuta Tanrei Junmai" is a dry sake that offers a light and clean (tanrei) mouthfeel while still retaining the mellow richness and umami of the rice.
Momokawa boasts top-tier recognition in Japan, including being the only brewery to win consecutive Excellence Awards at the Nanbu Toji Self-Brewed Sake Awards and numerous Gold Medals at the National New Sake Awards.
