Koizumi Honten is a historic brewery founded in the Tenpo era (1830s), known as the sacred sake brewery (Itsukushima Shrine Sake Brewery) for the World Heritage Site Itsukushima Shrine in Aki's Miyajima, one of the three most scenic spots in Japan.
In commemoration of serving as a resting place during Emperor Meiji's tour of Sanyo in 1885 (Meiji 18), it was bestowed the name "Miyuki" by the Emperor.
Nestled in the old townscape of Kusatsu, Nishi Ward, Hiroshima City, they are particular about Hiroshima rice and water, and continue to protect traditional handmade techniques.
